Originally created as the National Quality Awards of the National Association of Life Underwriters, (NALU, our association's name prior to becoming NAIFA) the award was focused on recognizing outstanding performance for life insurance agents. As the scope of our membership has widened, so too has the scope of the NQA. During the 1980s, the award was expanded to include the following practice categories: Life Insurance & Annuities, Mulitline, Financial Advising, and Health and Employee Benefits. Shortly after 2020, the award was again refined to identify those who are good NAIFA citizens, meaning they adhere to our Code of Ethics, provide quality care to their clients and their communities, continue to further their education, and serve as NAIFA volunteers. 2024 saw another evolution of this award with the creation of the emeritus category. Recipients must be 60 years of age or older and have previously qualified for NQA for a minimum of 15 years to qualify for this category.
The NAIFA Quality Award is open to all advisors and agents in the financial services industry to apply for the award. To be recognized in the NAIFA listing and receive the NQA certificate, you must be an active NAIFA member. The qualifications and database of award winners since 2020 can be found at belong.naifa.org/nqa. Applications for NQA for 2025 will open in February. The data submitted for 2025 will be based on production levels in 2024. Applicants may apply for more than one category and there are bonus points awarded for holding designations, additional production categories, and serving in leadership roles at NAIFA.
