2025 Legislative Session - Week 8
By Tim Meenan on Apr 29, 2025 4:56:03 PM
The Florida Legislature convened its 60‐day 2025 legislative session on March 4 and will end on May 2. Committee action has ended as legislative priorities move to the floor. With committee meetings completed, there is only 1 week remaining in the session. Legislative leaders announced this week that they will be unable to complete the budget during regular session so will most likely return for a special session in late May or early June. Enacting an annual budget by July 1 is the Legislature’s only constitutional duty ‐‐ yet the chambers are unable to agree due to vast differences in their approach to cutting taxes. We anticipate that all regular bills that are not passed prior to adjournment on May 2 will die.
